All the Mastheads shown are consistently placed in the skyline of the magazine so that readers automatically see and establish what company the magazine is. NME, Q, Rocksound & Billboard all use red within the masthead as this is a striking colour and grabs the readers attention as it often contrasts with the background colours used. Kerrang! on the other hand sticks to a black and white masthead and sometimes even red, which connotes the simplicity of the magazine. All of the magazines uses Sans-serif in the masthead which depicts the informality of the music magazines.
In my magazine I will aim to create a bold masthead, perhaps with some red colour in it to make it stand out just like these magazines.

What is evident through all these examples of fonts is that Capital letters are constantly used all throughout as this 'shouts' at readers, especially with magazines that have a Rock or Indie genre.
Main colours used all throughout these examples are black, red, white and yellow which seem to be recurring themes as these colour are very bright.
Although I am doing a Grime magazine instead of a Rock/Indie magazine, I will still use capital letters on my front cover yet in a simplistic way as this seems to be a general convention of front covers.
My Magazine:
Use a bold, possibly red font for Masthead
Capital Letters all throughout front cover- BUT keep it simplistic
Use colours such as Red, Yellow, White & Black- Key colours used in my examples
